Transitive and non-transitive subgroups of permutation groups

open access: yes, 2023
We treat the problem of finding transitive subgroups G of S_n containing normal subgroups N_1 and N_2, with N_1 transitive and N_2 not transitive, such that G/N_1 is isomorphic G/N_2.

Volume Quantization with Flexible Singularities for Hexahedral Meshing

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a novel algorithm for quantization and subsequent hexahedral mesh generation from seamless volumetric maps. Quantization is the process of choosing integers that represent the numbers of hexahedral elements to be placed in each region of the volume, and transforming the seamless map into an integer‐grid map matching that choice ...

CLusterix: A Hybrid Visualization Model for Hierarchically Clustered Networks

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We introduce Clusterix, a novel hybrid visualization model for representing hierarchically clustered networks, which also supports directed and weighted edges. Clusterix offers an integrated view of both the network and its full cluster hierarchy by compactly visualizing the cluster inclusion tree enriched with links of the network.

Infinite algebras with 3-transitive groups of weak automorphisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
summary:The infinite algebras with 3-transitive groups of weak automorphisms are investigated. Among others it is shown that if an infinite algebra with 3-transitive group of weak automorphisms has a nontrivial idempotent polynomial operation then either

The Story(line) So Far: A Survey on Storyline Visualization

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Storyline visualizations model narratives as temporal networks, using x‐monotone lines to represent entities and their interactions over time. This technique offers an intuitive way to reveal structural patterns over time, such as character co‐occurrence and narrative flow.

Consumer theory with bounded rational preferences

open access: yes
The neoclassical consumer maximizes utility and makes choices by completely preordering the feasible alternatives and weighing when indifferent. The consumer studied in this paper chooses by weighing when indifferent and also when indecisive, without ...

Transitive and fully transitive groups

open access: yes, 1998
The notions of transitivity and full transitivity for abelian p-groups were introduced by Kaplansky in the 1950s. Important classes of transitive and fully transitive p-groups were discovered by Hill, among others.

Product heterogeneity, price index bias, and their link to provincial urban size: Evidence from urban China's beverage market

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Agricultural Economics/Revue canadienne d'agroeconomie, EarlyView.
Abstract Conventional price indexes partially address product heterogeneity. This paper considers the variety and quality of products in each market, the combination of region and year, and constructs panel price indexes using household scanner data on non‐alcoholic beverages in urban China.
