Diagnostic Radiology of Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunts
Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, 2013Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS) are an effective method for treating the complications of portal hypertension. Specific indications for TIPS include secondary prevention of variceal bleeding and refractory ascites. The purpose of this review is to summarize the role of diagnostic radiology in the creation and assessment of TIPS ...

Pediatric Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunts
Digestive Disease Interventions, 2017AbstractTransjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) creation offers potentially life-saving portal decompression regardless of patient age or size, but has been underutilized in pediatric patients to date. Experience has therefore been limited, and the full clinical benefit in this population is yet to be realized.

Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt and Hepatic Encephalopathy
Digestive Diseases, 1996Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a frequent complication of portosystemic shunts with an incidence of about 25%. In side-to-side shunts, such as the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS), there is relation between the incidence of postshunt HE and the diameter of the shunt.

Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt: A Medical Perspective
Digestive Diseases, 1995The transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is an exciting new addition to the therapeutic armamentarium against portal hypertension. It is currently indicated for salvage of patients with active variceal hemorrhage despite sclerotherapy or where sclerotherapy is not feasible.

TRANSJUGULAR INTRAHEPATIC PORTOSYSTEMIC SHUNTS FOR PORTAL HYPERTENSION
Gastroenterology Clinics of North America, 1995TIPS has rapidly become a proven effective therapy for treatment of acute variceal bleeding and is probably an effective therapy for intractable ascites. Nonetheless, it is important to define the appropriate subpopulation best suited for the TIPS procedure.

Evaluation and Management of Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunts
American Journal of Roentgenology, 2012The purpose of this article is to describe the evaluation of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS) and the management of dysfunctional shunts.TIPS can become dysfunctional if stenosis develops in the shunt or the hepatic vein above the shunt.
