The Impact of Translating English Haiku on the Emergence of Haiku in Persian Literature [PDF]

open access: yesمطالعات بین‌رشته‌ای ادبیات، هنر و علوم انسانی
This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of translated English haikus and Iranian haikus, exploring whether Persian haikus (composed in Persian) exhibit literary characteristics influenced by translated haikus or possess distinct traits. To this

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Molecular Engineering of Polymyxin B for Imaging and Treatment of Bacterial Infections

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
The emergence of multi-drug resistant bacteria and the lack of novel antibiotics to combat them have led to the revival of polymyxin B, a previously abandoned antibiotic due to its potential nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity.

TermEval: an automatic metric for evaluating terminology translation in MT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Terminology translation plays a crucial role in domain-specific machine translation (MT). Preservation of domain-knowledge from source to target is arguably the most concerning factor for the customers in translation industry, especially for critical ...

On $n$-translation algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Motivated by Iyama's higher representation theory, we introduce $n$-translation quivers and $n$-translation algebras. The classical $\mathbb Z Q$ construction of the translation quiver is generalized to construct an $(n+1)$-translation quiver from an $n$-

Minimum Error Rate Training in Statistical Machine Translation

open access: yesAnnual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, 2003
Often, the training procedure for statistical machine translation models is based on maximum likelihood or related criteria. A general problem of this approach is that there is only a loose relation to the final translation quality on unseen text.

Google’s Multilingual Neural Machine Translation System: Enabling Zero-Shot Translation [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the Association for Computational Linguistics, 2016
We propose a simple solution to use a single Neural Machine Translation (NMT) model to translate between multiple languages. Our solution requires no changes to the model architecture from a standard NMT system but instead introduces an artificial token ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
