Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

The importance of a comprehensive method in the teaching of literary translation [PDF]

open access: yesStudies in Linguistics, Culture, and FLT, 2016
The emergence of translation studies as an independent discipline contributed to the development of the pedagogy of translation included in a number of higher education programmes.

Acquiring Translation Competence through the Use of Subtitling. Enhancing Language Learning through Translation and Translating. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The research work presented here is the result of two interconnected factors: on the one hand the results of a preliminary study on the skills of students of the degree courses “Mediazione Linguistica e Culturale” [Linguistic and Cultural Mediation] and “

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Fostering environmental consciousness among university students [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
During a time marked by environmental issues, it is crucial to educate and empower a generation of knowledgeable individuals. This abstract suggests an all-encompassing method for environmental education designed specifically for university students. The

Translation, Ideology, and Social Practice

open access: yes, 2020
Translation can be used in a double ideologico-social sense: to orient people towards acceptance of a situation or to evidence the possibility of change. In One-Dimensional Man (1964), Marcuse analyses the results of a study on work in a firm in the USA,

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Error Assessment in the Teaching of Translation: A Case of Garyounis University, Libya [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The research investigates the ways in which the needs of a particular translation teaching-situation are provided for. The argument runs against the general practice where a translation model is independently adopted and is thought to provide the ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
