On the Translocation of Masses

Management Science, 1958
The following paper is reproduced from a Russian journal of the character of our own Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Comptes Rendus (Doklady) de I'Académie des Sciences de I'URSS, 1942, Volume XXXVII, No. 7–8. The author is one of the most distinguished of Russian mathematicians.

Jumping translocations

Genes, Chromosomes and Cancer, 2007
AbstractJumping translocations (JT) are uncommon constitutional or acquired chromosome rearrangements involving one donor and several recipient chromosomes. They occur in various pathologic conditions and the mechanism of their formation remains elusive.

Phosphate translocator and adenylate translocator in chromoplast membranes

Planta, 1980
It is shown by the criteria of saturation kinetics, specificity, and inhibition experiments that chromoplast membranes from the daffodil flower contain a phosphate translocator for the counter-exchange of phosphate, and 3-phosphoglycerate, as well as phosphoenolpyruvate; they also contain an adenylate translocator.

Nutrition and Translocation

Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, 1990
It is now clear that atrophy of the intestinal mucosa can occur rapidly after injury and that the degree of atrophy is quantitatively related to the severity of injury. Such atrophy can be associated with translocation of bacteria and endotoxin, which can trigger the hypermetabolic response and induce a septic state, which may ultimately lead to ...

Translocation in the Phloem

2018
This chapter studies translocation in the phloem of angiosperms, because most of the research has been conducted on that group of plants. The phloem is the tissue that transports (translocates) the products of photosynthesis, particularly sugars, from mature leaves to areas of growth and storage, including the roots.

Macular translocation

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2000
Macular translocation is a term used to describe any surgical procedure that involves the deliberate detachment of the retina with subsequent repositioning of the macula to a new location relative to the underlying retinal pigment epithelium. By moving the fovea away from abnormal pigment epithelium and/or choroid and repositioning it over more normal ...

Translocation-Related Sarcomas

Seminars in Oncology, 2009
Sarcomas with chromosomal translocations represent only about one fourth of sarcoma diagnoses. However, like gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), with its characteristic KIT or PDGFRA mutations, they are particularly interesting since they provide specific biological insights and mechanisms of action that may have an impact upon prognosis or therapy.

Thermodynamics of the Protein Translocation

2009
Many proteins synthesized in bacteria are secreted from the cytoplasm into the periplasm to function in the cell envelope or in the extracellular medium. The Sec translocase is a primary and evolutionary conserved secretion pathway in bacteria. It catalyzes the translocation of unfolded proteins across the cytoplasmic membrane via the pore-forming ...
