Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Oscillation properties for non-classical Sturm-Liouville problems with additional transmission conditions

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2021
This work is aimed at studying some comparison and oscillation properties of boundary value problems (BVP’s) of a new type, which differ from classical problems in that they are defined on two disjoint intervals and include additional transfer conditions

Free boundary cluster with Robin condition on the transmission interface

open access: yesCalculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations, 2023
We formulate and study a variational two-phase free boundary problem with Robin condition on the interface between the two phases, and we prove existence and regularity of solutions in dimension ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

High-Performance Asymmetric Optical Transmission Based on a Dielectric–Metal Metasurface

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Asymmetric optical transmission plays a key role in many optical systems. In this work, we propose and numerically demonstrate a dielectric–metal metasurface that can achieve high-performance asymmetric transmission for linearly polarized light in the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Boundary Value Problems on a Star Thermal Graph and their Solutions

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы
In this study, heat conductivity boundary value problems on a star graph are considered, inspired by engineering applications, e.g., heat conduction phenomena in mesh-like structures.

Modelling and observing the role of wind in Anopheles population dynamics around a reservoir

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2018
Background Wind conditions, as well as other environmental conditions, are likely to influence malaria transmission through the behaviours of Anopheles mosquitoes, especially around water-resource reservoirs.
