MINLP in transmission expansion planning [PDF]

open access: yes2016 Power Systems Computation Conference (PSCC), 2016
Transmission expansion planning requires forecasts of demand for electric power and a model of the underlying physics, i.e., power flows. We present three approaches to deriving exact solutions to the transmission expansion planning problem in the alternating-current model, for a given load.

Transmission expansion planning with re-design [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy Systems, 2010
Expanding an electrical transmission network requires heavy investments that need to be carefully planned, often at a regional or national level. We study relevant theoretical and practical aspects of transmission expansion planning, set as a bilinear programming problem with mixed 0-1 variables. We show that the problem is NP-hard and that, unlike the

Transmission Expansion Planning Using Cycle Flows [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Eleventh ACM International Conference on Future Energy Systems, 2020
The common linear optimal power flow (LOPF) formulation that underlies most transmission expansion planning (TEP) formulations uses bus voltage angles as auxiliary optimization variables to describe Kirchhoff's voltage law. As well as introducing a large number of auxiliary variables, the angle-based formulation has the disadvantage that it is not well-

Transmission Expansion Planning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A critical issue in the operation of electric energy systems is the capacity of the transmission lines that enable energy flows from generation nodes to demand nodes. In this chapter, we analyze the transmission expansion planning (TEP) problem, which allows a transmission planner to identify the optimal transmission reinforcements to be carried out ...

A Quantile-Based Approach for Transmission Expansion Planning [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Transmission expansion planning is an integral part of power system planning and consists of generating and selecting transmission proposals for maintaining sufficient transmission capacity to satisfy the electric load. Specifically, the desire to increase the use of renewable energy has exposed the limitations of transmission networks and has elevated

A Data-Mining-Based Methodology for Transmission Expansion Planning [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Intelligent Systems, 2011
Analyzing electrical and economical locational marginal pricing (LMP) values can help operators in the electric power sector plan future investments and network expansion.

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
