Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

The dynamics of a hole in a CuO_4 plaquette: electron energy-loss spectroscopy of Li_2CuO_2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We have measured the energy and momentum dependent loss function of Li_2CuO_2 single crystals by means of electron energy-loss spectroscopy in transmission.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Numerical Analyzing of the Cavity Scatterer Effect on the Acoustic Performance of Echo Reducing Layers with Doubly Periodic Distribution Using FEM

open access: yesنشریه مهندسی دریا, 2020
The echo reduction of an underwater vessel is one of the major concerns of its concealing problem. Recently, using scatterers in the doubly periodic distribution has attracted enormous interest.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Design, Manufacturing, and Acoustical Analysis of a Helmholtz Resonator-Based Metamaterial Plate

open access: yesAcoustics, 2021
Acoustic metamaterials are materials artificially engineered to control sound waves, which is not possible with conventional materials. We have proposed a design of an acoustic metamaterial plate with inbuilt Helmholtz resonators.

Temperature‐dependent transmission extended electron energy‐loss fine structure of aluminum [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Inelastic electron scattering experiments in a transmission electron microscope provide a probe of core electron excitations that have binding energies below 2 keV, and that are localized within submicron diameter sample volumes. Extended electron energy‐

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Study of transmission properties for waveguide bends by use of a circular photonic crystal

open access: yes, 2005
We study the transmission properties for the waveguide bends composed by a circular photonic crystal. Two types (Y and U type) of the waveguide bends utilizing the circular photonic crystal are studied.

Low-loss photonic crystal fibers for transmission systems and their dispersion properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We report on a single-mode photonic crystal fiber with attenuation and effective area at 1550 nm of 0.48 dB/km and 130 square-micron, respectively. This is, to our knowledge, the lowest loss reported for a PCF not made from VAD prepared silica and at the
