Transmission network expansion planning software-tools

2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics, 2015
The authors are proposing a software-tool for transmission network expansion planning (TNEP). The developed software-tool is able to be used in case of complex, large scale power systems. It uses a.c. complete power flow mathematical model. Power flow computing is performed using conventional methods.

Transmission network expansion planning with Scatter Search

2007 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2007
In this paper, an efficient method is proposed for transmission network expansion planning in power systems. The power networks become more deregulated and competitive due to the power system liberalization. Power system planners are concerned with the quality of the optimization method to make power system planning more reasonable.

Transmission network expansion planning with security constraints

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 2005
A mathematical model and a methodology to solve the transmission network expansion planning problem with security constraints are presented. The methodology allows one to find an optimal and reliable transmission network expansion plan using a DC model to represent the electrical network. The security (n-1) criterion is used.

Load uncertainty based transmission network expansion planning

2013 3rd International Conference on Electric Power and Energy Conversion Systems, 2013
Transmission expansion planning (TEP) is more robust and reliable when it is able to tackle the uncertainty generated by load. In this, paper in order to handle the demand uncertainty a mathematical model is presented. In particular, the uncertainty of each bus load analyzes individually and is expressed in interval number.

Climate-Adaptive Transmission Network Expansion Planning Considering Evolutions of Resources

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics
Weather-sensitive resources are the main source of uncertainties in power systems. However, the unpredictable climate change further introduces ambiguity into the system, since the weather-sensitive resources would evolve with the climate and gradually ...

Computational Performance Enhancement Strategies for Risk-Averse Two-Stage Stochastic Generation and Transmission Network Expansion Planning

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems
This paper proposes a new acceleration technique and a representative day aggregation procedure for the risk-averse two-stage stochastic generation and transmission network expansion planning problem, in which the conditional value-at-risk is used.

AC transmission network expansion planning considering losses

2018 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT-Europe), 2018
This paper proposes to solve the transmission network expansion planning problem (TNEP) using the AC model formulated with full non-linear load flow equations, incorporating the cost of losses in the transmission network. Additionally, the decomposed formulation finds the location and amount of the reactive compensation needed in the system.

Economic externalities in transmission network expansion planning

Energy Economics, 2017
Abstract This paper discusses investing in transmission capacity and its link with investing in generation capacity. Since opportunity costs in transmission and generation capacity are dependent, externalities arise when investment decisions are decentralized.

Dynamic multi-stage transmission network expansion planning

2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies, 2008
Conventional multi-stage transmission network expansion planning does not consider some dynamic factors, such as the effect of the following load growth in every stage and the swift increase of construction cost. But these dynamic factors are very important in deregulated power system.
