Annular Electromagnetic Generator for Harvesting Ocean Wave Energy

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
To sustainably power ocean sensors by harvesting ocean wave energy, an annular electromagnetic generator (A-EMG) based on the principle of Faraday electromagnetic induction is proposed in this paper.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Determination of Critical Point of Particle Migration Direction in a Confined Shear Flow of Giesekus Fluids

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Migration of a particle in a confined shear flow of Giesekus fluids is investigated numerically with the method of direct forcing/fictitious domain. We focus on the migration direction for the particle with initial lateral position y0 and determination ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Enhanced Grid-Connected Phase-Locked Loop Based on a Moving Average Filter

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Moving average filter (MAF)-based phase-locked loops (PLLs) have received considerable attention in recent years due to their attractive features. Indeed, they are able to completely eliminate the unwanted effect of harmonics, dc offset, and unbalanced ...

Transmission Power Control with the Guaranteed Communication Reliability in WSN

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2015
In a wireless sensor network, sensor nodes are deployed in an ad hoc fashion and they deliver data packets using multihop transmission. However, transmission failures occur frequently in the multihop transmission over wireless media. Thus, a loss recovery mechanism is required to provide end-to-end reliability. In addition, because the sensor nodes are

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Research on Theoretical Model of Dynamic Bulk Modulus of Gas-Containing Hydraulic Oil

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The bulk modulus of the gas-containing hydraulic oil is an important indicator reflecting its compressibility, directly affecting the stability, accuracy, rapidity, and reliability of the fluid transmission system.
