Characterization of biconical transmitting antennas

open access: yesRadio Science, 1991
We have obtained a general, numerical solution of an ideal biconical transmitting antenna, with arbitrary arm length and conic angle. The solution evaluates the field coefficients associated with the electric multipolar expansion terms both within the antenna region and external to it; the set must necessarily be truncated, and we truncate our set with

HF broadcast transmitting antennas

open access: yes1988 IEEE AP-S. International Symposium, Antennas and Propagation, 2003
An overview is presented of high-frequency (HF) broadcast transmitting antennas. For long-range broadcasting, high-power wideband directive antennas with slewing and beam shaping capabilities are needed. The design requirements, state-of-the-art, and the future trend of these antennas are discussed.

Fundamental transmitting properties of carbon nanotube antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2005
Fundamental properties of dipole transmitting antennas formed by carbon nanotubes are investigated. Since carbon nanotubes can be grown to centimeter lengths, and since they can be metallic, the properties of carbon nanotubes as antenna elements are of fundamental interest. In this paper, dipole carbon nanotube antennas are investigated via a classical

Blind detection of the number of transmitting antennas for spatially-correlated MIMO systems

open access: yes, 2011
International audienceThe blind interception process of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) signals have recently gained more attention. The number of transmitting antennas is an important information for many blind MIMO algorithms.

Optical Antenna Gain 1: Transmitting Antennas

Applied Optics, 1974
The gain of centrally obscured optical transmitting antennas is analyzed in detail. The calculations, resulting in near- and far-field antenna gain patterns, assume a circular antenna illuminated by a laser operating in the TEM(00) mode. A simple polynomial equation is derived for matching the incident source distribution to a general antenna ...

Adaptive transmit antenna

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium 1997. Digest, 2002
Adaptive techniques are commonly used to protect receiving antennas from interference. However, adaptive techniques have not been applied to transmitting antennas. An example of adaptively controlling a transmitting antenna is described. This adaptive transmit antenna concept was motivated by requirements for future personal communication systems ...

Research on transmitting antennas

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Newsletter, 1989
All of the characteristics of the batwing radiator, which is the heart of the superturnstile antenna system, are theoretically calculated by using the moment method. The matching condition is obtained on the basis of the characteristics, for the cases of changing the connection of the jumper(s) and of changing the distance between the support mast and ...

Novel Linear Decodable QO-STBC for Four Transmit Antennas with Transmit Antenna Shuffling

Wireless Personal Communications, 2014
A conventional quasi orthogonal space time block code (QO-STBC) scheme can achieve full rate, but at the cost of decoding complexity. This limitation of the conventional QO-STBC scheme is mainly due to interference terms in the detection matrix. In this article, a novel QO-STBC scheme is proposed which eliminates the interference terms.
