Smooth transonic flow in an array of counter-rotating vortices [PDF]
Numerical solutions to the steady two-dimensional compressible Euler equations corresponding to a compressible analogue of the Mallier & Maslowe (Phys. Fluids, vol. A 5, 1993, p. 1074) vortex are presented.

Additive manufacturing technologies like laser powder‐bed fusion offer great design freedom and individualization of products down to a batch size of one. However, parts fabricated with this technology suffer from poor quality. Acoustic assistance during the build process can minimize these drawbacks.

Design considerations of the national transonic facility [PDF]
The inability of existing wind tunnels to provide aerodynamic test data at transonic speeds and flight Reynolds numbers was examined. The proposed transonic facility is a high Reynolds number transonic wind tunnel designed to meet the research and ...

Global Solutions of Viscous Transonic Flows in Kerr Geometry I: Weak Viscosity Limit [PDF]
We present fully general relativistic equations governing viscous transonic flows in vertical equilibrium in Kerr geometry. We find the complete set of global solutions (both for Optically thick and optically thin flows) in the weak viscosity limit.

The dielectric elastomer‐based electropneumatic device (DE‐EPD) is a vacuum‐assisted ventricular assist device (VAD) that delivers high performance (85 mmHg, 6.8 L min−1) with low power consumption. Unlike traditional motor‐driven VADs, it is lightweight, quiet, energy‐efficient, and provides pulsatile flow. Validated in a simulated circulation system,

Transonic wing DFVLR-F4 as European test model [PDF]
A transonic wing, the DFVLR-F4 was designed and tested as a model in European transonic wind tunnels and was found to give performance improvements over conventional wings.

Molecular-Kinetic Simulations of Escape from the Ex-planet and Exoplanets: Criterion for Transonic Flow [PDF]
The equations of gas dynamics are extensively used to describe atmospheric loss from solar system bodies and exoplanets even though the boundary conditions at infinity are not uniquely defined. Using molecular-kinetic simulations that correctly treat the

A near infrared‐responsive microscale cantilever is developed using a 3D‐printable composite based on photocurable resin consisting of sepiolite and graphene flakes. The material absorbs 1064 nm light, causing shape transformation with an average displacement of 1.3 mm in 1.7 s. Displacement is measured via video recording.

Prediction of transonic flutter for a supercritical wing by modified strip analysis and comparison with experiment [PDF]
Use of a supercritical airfoil can adversely affect wing flutter speeds in the transonic range. As adequate theories for three dimensional unsteady transonic flow are not yet available, the modified strip analysis was used to predict the transonic ...
