FUNCTION OF HYDRAULIC AND CHEMICAL WATER STRESS SIGNALIZATION IN EVALUATION OF DROUGHT RESISTANCE OF JUVENILE PLANTS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture, 2002
In laboratory hydroponic experiments with spring barley genotypes the juvenile plants with 5 leaves were tested for their physiological responses to osmotic stress evoked by blocking the water uptake in roots by polyethylenglycol (PEG-6000) and to ...

Ni2‐Imido Bispincer Platforms: Cooperative Reactivity Enabled Through Substrate Addition Across a Ni2N Unit

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Ni2 bispincer complexes with an embedded central imido anchor are presented. The bispincer complexes leverage the high basicity of imido ligands to facilitate 1,2 addition of weak B─H and Si─H bonds, resulting in hydrido–amido complexes and resultingly a contortion of a Ni─Ni sigma bond to form an S = 1 species. The 1,2 addition is proposed to serve as

Carba‐closo‐dodecaborates as Superchaotropic Anions

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The singly charged boron cluster anion CB11H12– forms strong inclusion complexes with cyclodextrins, interacts strongly with nonionic polymers, and serves as an effective transmembrane carrier, positioning itself as the smallest superchaotropic anion known to date. .

The transpiration stream : introduction

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series B: Biological Sciences, 1993
Abstract An inevitable consequence of their assimilation of carbon dioxide is the loss of water from aerial parts of plants. Leaves have a very low water content compared with the rate at which water can be lost into dry air. If they are to avoid damaging water deficits, which can develop within a few minutes, they must not only have ...

Plant Water Status Indicators for Irrigation Scheduling Associated with Iso- and Anisohydric Behavior: Vine and Plum Trees

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2017
Plant water status indicators have been increasingly used for scheduling irrigation. Different variables may be used to do this, depending on personal preferences and the resources available.

Warming and Elevated CO2 Have Opposing Influences on Transpiration. Which is more Important?

open access: yesCurrent Forestry Reports, 2018
Plant transpiration is a key component of the terrestrial water cycle, and it is important to understand whether rates are likely to increase or decrease in the future.

High atmospheric pressure rescues plant growth under humidity stress: A model for climate‐resilient deep underground agriculture

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
High atmospheric pressure (120 kPa) in deep underground counteracts humidity‐induced physiological stress in plants, stabilizing water balance and enhancing antioxidative defenses. This synergy boosts biomass despite elevated humidity, demonstrating sustainable deep underground agriculture potential under climate uncertainty.

Canopy transpiration of a Larix sibirica and Pinus sylvestris forest in Central Siberia

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Meteorology, 2019
Russian boreal forests represent the largest forested region on Earth and comprise one-fifth of the world's forest cover. The two most common genera in Siberia are Larix and Pinus, which together cover more than 80% of the region’s forested area.

Compared to Australian Cultivars, European Summer Wheat (Triticum aestivum) Overreacts When Moderate Heat Stress Is Applied at the Pollen Development Stage

open access: yesAgronomy, 2018
Heat stress frequently imposes a strong negative impact on vegetative and reproductive development of plants leading to severe yield losses. Wheat, a major temperate crop, is more prone to suffer from increased temperatures than most other major crops ...
