Regime and Treatment Effects in Duration Models: Decomposing Expectation and Transplant Effects on the Kidney Waitlist [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
This paper proposes a causal decomposition framework for settings in which an initial regime randomization influences the timing of a treatment duration. The initial randomization and treatment affect in turn a duration outcome of interest. Our empirical application considers the survival of individuals on the kidney transplant waitlist.

The origin of clinical organ transplantation revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A patient whose illness had begun with edema and hypertension was found to have extreme atrophy of both kidneys. Because of the steady worsening of the condition and the appearance of uremia with other unfavorable diagnostic signs, transplantation of 1 ...

Copy Number Gains of VPS72 Drive De Novo Lipogenesis and Hepatocarcinogenesis via ATF3/mTORC1/SREBP1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
VPS72 overexpression activates mTORC1 signaling, subsequently promoting lipid synthesis and driving HCC progression. VPS72 modulates the epigenetic landscape of ATF3 promoter, such as H2A.Z acetylation reduction and DNA methylation increase, which results in ATF3 repression and subsequent activation of mTORC1.

Construction of an Insertion Vector for Gene Targeting of Chicken Lens-specific Gene

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2010
Production of gene-targeted chickens is considered to be valuable for studies in both biological science and industry, but it is yet to be achieved. In this study, an insertion vector for gene targeting of chicken lens-specific gene, delta1-crystallin ...

An Initial Step Towards Organ Transplantation Based on GitHub Repository [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Organ transplantation, which is the utilization of codes directly related to some specific functionalities to complete ones own program, provides more convenience for developers than traditional component reuse. However, recent techniques are challenged with the lack of organs for transplantation.

Sequence of the mouse Q4 class I gene and characterization of the gene product [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The Q4 class I gene has been shown to participate in gene conversion events within the mouse major histocompatibility complex. Its complete genomic nucleotide sequence has been determined.

Mas Signaling Potentiates Neutrophil Extracellular Traps Formation Induced by Endothelial Cells Derived S1P in Mice with Acute Liver Failure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In mice challenged with lipopolysaccharide/D‐galactosamine (L/G), Mas signaling increased SHP2 in hepatic Col4a1+ endothelial cells, inhibiting farnesoid X receptor (FXR), potentially due to enterogenic deoxycholic acid. This inhibition activates sphingosine‐1‐phosphate‐induced Raf/MEK/ERK signaling in Cldn1+CD177+ neutrophils, causing neutrophil ...

Topological Data Analysis of Clostridioides difficile Infection and Fecal Microbiota Transplantation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Computational topologists recently developed a method, called persistent homology to analyze data presented in terms of similarity or dissimilarity. Indeed, persistent homology studies the evolution of topological features in terms of a single index, and is able to capture higher order features beyond the usual clustering techniques.

Quantitative Methods for Optimizing Patient Outcomes in Liver Transplantation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Liver transplantation continues to be the gold standard for treating patients with end-stage liver diseases. However, despite the huge success of liver transplantation in improving patient outcomes, long term graft survival continues to be a major problem.

LincNEAT1 Encoded‐NEAT1‐31 Promotes Phagocytosis by Directly Activating the Aurora‐A–PI3K–AKT Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LincNEAT1 Encoded‐NEAT1‐31 micropeptide directly binds with Aurora‐A and enhanced AKT pathways to pormotes phagocytosis against multi cancer cells. Abstract Macrophages play vital roles in innate and adaptive immunity, and their essential functions are mediated by phagocytosis and antigen presentation.
