Fludarabine-Based Conditioning Chemotherapy for Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Acquired Severe Aplastic Anemia

open access: yes, 2011
Thirty-eight patients who met the diagnostic criteria for severe aplastic anemia underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The median patient age was 20 years (range, 14-36 years).

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Aptamer‐Based Delivery Systems for VEGF and NGF Modulation in Ocular Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aptamer‐based delivery systems targeting NGF and VEGF hold significant potential for precise and sustained treatment of complex diseases affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This review critically summarizes current strategies for NGF and VEGF delivery as well as VEGF sequestration, providing a clinical perspective on how ...

Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation Using Reduced-Intensity Conditioning Is Successful in Children with Hematologic Cytopenias of Genetic Origin

open access: yes, 2015
Genetically derived hematologic cytopenias are a rare heterogeneous group of disorders. Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is curative but offset by organ toxicities from the preparative regimen, graft rejection, graft-versus-host ...

Post-transplant cyclophosphamide in haploidentical stem cell transplantation: evaluating the impact of transplant conditioning intensity

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundThe introduction of posttransplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy) is one of the major achievements in the field of haploidentical stem cell transplantation (haplo-HCT). The transplant conditioning intensity (TCI) score is a refined classification of conditioning regimens that assigns weight scores to conditioning regimen components.

Piezoelectric Surface Charge and Dynamic Stimulation Synergize to Promote Cardiac Myoblast Alignment and Maturation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface polarization of PVDF films combined with mechanical stimulation generates piezoelectric electrical cues that modulate cardiomyoblast behaviour. Non‐poled and poled PVDF substrates provide distinct electroactive microenvironments influencing cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation.

Recapitulating Endochondral Ossification for Bone Repair: From Development to Engineering Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the developmental basis of endochondral ossification (ECO) and its applications in bone tissue engineering (BTE). It first outlines the key biological processes and signaling pathways underlying ECO, then discusses biomaterial‐based engineering strategies derived from these principles, and finally highlights future directions for

Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation with Full-Intensity Conditioning for Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Results from a Single Center, 1998-2006

open access: yes, 2011
A retrospective analysis identified 161 consecutive adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) with full-intensity (myeloablative) conditioning between 1998 and 2006.
