[Transplant conditioning and transplant size in heterotopic autologous spleen transplantation].

Langenbecks Archiv fur Chirurgie, 1984
In an experimental study we compared two methods of preparing transplants in rabbits (n = 66): 4-5 splenic fragments with a thickness of 1 mm and graduated weight (5-800 mg) were attached onto the peritoneal peritoneum. Splenic homogenates with increasing weight (5-800 mg) were placed in 4-5 preformed pockets in the parietal peritoneum.

Optimal Conditions of Transplantable Binary Polyelectrolyte Microcapsules

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2001
Abstract: Binary polyanion/oligocation microcapsules, prepared in a one‐step process, are proposed as an alternative to the common alginate/poly‐l‐lysine system used in bioencapsulation technology. The model system is based on natural polysaccharides and involves the anionic sodium alginate, or iota‐carrageenan, complexed with cationic oligochitosan ...

Conditioning regimens for allogeneic bone marrow transplantation

Blood Reviews, 1992
Conditioning regimens for transplantation are important in determining transplant outcome. This review focuses on transplantation in aplastic anemia and leukemia using marrow from HLA-identical siblings. Results of conditioning with newer regimens such as busulfan plus cyclophosphamide and etoposide plus total body irradiation are reviewed and compared

Radionuclides as conditioning before stem cell transplantation

Current Opinion in Hematology, 1999
Targeted radiotherapy using either radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies or bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals can potentially result in delivery of high radiation doses to tumor or bone marrow with less toxicity to normal organs. High-dose radioimmunotherapy has produced encouraging results in lymphoma and leukemia.

Murine Models of Bone-Marrow Transplant Conditioning

2002
Hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (SCT) is a rapidly evolving clinical strategy for treating a variety of malignancies or disorders of the lymphohematopoietic system. Bone-marrow cells or, more recently, mobilized peripheral blood (MPB) stem cells, are used as a vital source of hematopoietic cells that can reconstitute the host and rescue the ...

Role of Socioeconomic Conditions on Outcome in Kidney Transplant Recipients

Transplantation Proceedings, 2009
While deaths with a functioning graft have occurred more frequently in recent years, other nonimmunologic factors may have an important role in late allograft loss. These variables include socioeconomic and cultural status as risk factors for posttransplantation noncompliance with therapy.

Conditioning regimens for allogeneic stem cell transplants

Current Opinion in Hematology, 2000
In addition to providing cytoreduction at myeloablative dose intensity, conditioning regimens for allogeneic transplantation are designed to immunosuppress the recipient to permit donor lymphohematopoietic engraftment and thereby establish a graft-versus-malignancy effect.

Changing Approaches to Transplant Conditioning for Hematologic Malignancy

Journal of Hematotherapy, 1999
H E C L A SS IC C O N C E P T R E G A R D IN G BMT in hematologic malignancy holds that myeloablative conditioning is a prerequisite for cure. However, as many as one third of patients may die from complications after this procedure. A preliminary publication in 1985, dealing with 5 cases of accelerated CML using dibromomannitol/ cytarabine ...
