Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Algal Concentration Dynamical Model Simulation in Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta Facultative Wastewater Treatment Pond [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
In this paper, we simulate a dynamical model of the algal concentration transport by using data collected in Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta facultative wastewater treatment ponds to analyse and evaluate the dynamic of the algal concentration.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Effects of Rainfall Intensity, Kinetic Energy and Slope Angle to the Upslope, Downslope, and Lateral Slope Components of Splash Erosion in Hillslope Agriculture: A Case in Badiangan, Ajuy, Iloilo [PDF]

open access: yesNature Environment and Pollution Technology
This study was conducted in Barangay Badiangan, Ajuy, Iloilo City, Philippines (11°10’N, 122°58’E) to determine the effects of rainfall intensity and other rainfall-derived parameters on the directional components of splash erosion in hillslopes.

Quantitative measurements of phase using the transport of intensity equation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2008
In this paper we present considerations for experimental recovery of electron phase using the TIE algorithm as applied to TEM images. Realistic simulations have considerably aided interpretation of results. Experimental reconstructions show that low spatial frequency artefacts in the phase reconstruction, resulting from very small variations in the ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Silicon wafer microstructure imaging using InfraRed Transport of Intensity Equation

open access: yes, 2015
A novel quantitative 3D imaging system of silicon microstructures using InfraRed Transport of Intensity Equation (IRTIE) is proposed in this paper. By recording the intensity at multiple planes and using FFT or DCT based TIE solver, fast and accurate ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
