Probabilistic solar irradiance transposition models

Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2020
Abstract Transposition models convert the solar irradiance received on a horizontal surface to in-plane irradiance. All transposition models to date, unfortunately, only produce deterministic (as oppose to probabilistic) estimates. In modern energy meteorology, having the entire predictive distribution is more desirable than relying only on ...

Constraint Programming Models for Transposition Distance Problem

open access: yes, 2009
Genome Rearrangements addresses the problem of finding the minimum number of global operations, such as transpositions, reversals, fusions and fissions that transform a given genome into another. In this paper we deal with transposition events, which are events that change the position of two contiguous block of genes in the same chromosome.

Verifying Strand Transposition in Stator Windings via X-ray Computed Tomography derived Three-Dimensional Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
To minimise AC losses in power dense electrical machines, multistrand stator windings are routinely employed. However, the magnitude of AC losses can be highly sensitive to the strand transposition achieved in the as-manufactured winding, which can ...

Molecular Pathways and Animal Models of d-Transposition of the Great Arteries

open access: yes
During normal cardiovascular development, the outflow tract becomes septated and rotates so that the separate aorta and pulmonary trunk are correctly aligned with the left and right ventricles, respectively. However, when this process goes wrong, the aorta and pulmonary trunk are incorrectly positioned, resulting in oxygenated blood being directly ...

Modelling and transposition of location-based games

Entertainment Computing, 2019
Abstract Design and development of Location-Based Games (LBG) are not trivial tasks due to their pervasive nature, multidisciplinary requirements, and global deployment issues. This paper presents a model-based approach to describe and generate LBGs. Our approach separates location data, game mechanics, and media content from the game implementation.

Sorting by transpositions: dealing with length-weighted models

International Journal of Bioinformatics Research and Applications, 2008
For the first time, we study the sorting of permutations by length-weighted transpositions under a wide class of cost functions, namely f(l)=l(alpha), where l is the length of the transposition. For different alpha, we give corresponding upper and lower bounds of the cost of sorting any binary sequences or any permutations.

Surgery and Behavioral Testing in the Tibial Neuroma Transposition Model in Rats

Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2023
The tibial neuroma transposition (TNT) is a rat model in which allodynia at the neuroma site (tibial nerve) can be independently evaluated from allodynia at the plantar surface of the hind paw innervated by the intact sural nerve. This TNT model is suitable to test therapies for neuroma pain, such as the potential superiority of certain surgical ...

Transposition of the antropylorus for anal incontinence—An experimental model in the pig

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1995
An experimental model in the pig rendered incontinent of feces was developed to assess the sphincteric activity of the transposed antropylorus. In the control group, normal defecation was studied clinically, radiologically, and manometrically. Nineteen 7- to 10-week-old pigs were rendered incontinent by resection of 20 cm of colon and rectum to below ...

A graphical model for computing the minimum cost transposition distance

2010 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2010
We address the problem of finding the minimum decomposition of a permutation in terms of transpositions with non-uniform cost. For metric-path costs, we describe exact polynomial-time decomposition algorithms. For extended-metric-path cost functions, we describe polynomial-time constant-approximation decomposition algorithms.
