A randomized comparison of transradial versus transfemoral approach for coronary angiography and angioplasty. [PDF]

open access: yesJACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, 2009
ObjectivesThe aim of the study was to evaluate the safety, feasibility, and procedural variables by the transradial approach compared with the transfemoral access in a standard population of patients undergoing coronary catheterization.BackgroundCoronary

Transradial Sheathless Approach for PCI

Current Cardiology Reports, 2015
The lumen of the radial artery in many patients is smaller than the outer diameter of a 6F radial sheath frequently leading to procedural pain, trauma to the radial artery and contributing to radial occlusion. Chronically, neointima formation reduces luminal size further, limiting successful re-intervention in some patients.

Transradial approach in myocardial infarction

Acta Cardiologica, 2011
This study investigates the feasibility, efficacy, and safety of routine primary percutaneous coronary intervention via transradial approach in patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction. From 2005 to 2007,122 consecutive patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction within 12 hours, including those experiencing cardiogenic shock ...

Transradial approach for collateral embolisation

Cardiology in the Young, 2017
AbstractSignificant aortopulmonary collaterals in cyanotic CHD patients require closure immediately before definitive intracardiac repair. Traditionally, the transfemoral access has been used for this purpose; however in a few cases, selective and stable hooking of collaterals may be extremely difficult.

Transradial approach for noncoronary angiography and interventions

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2007
AbstractPurpose: The purpose of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the feasibility and safety of a transradial approach for non‐coronary angiography and interventions. Background: Generally, the transradial approach is used for coronary angiography and intervention around the world, and experiences have been widely reported.

Distal Transradial “Snuffbox” Approach

2021
Abstract The distal radial or “snuffbox” approach is a modification of the traditional radial approach that uses a more distal location of the radial artery for puncture. The radial artery at this location is beyond the palmer arch thus puncturing has a theoretically lower risk of hand or thumb ischemia.

The transradial approach

Herz, 2011
In the 20 years since its introduction, radial access for diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures has been well validated in countless scientific studies. Nevertheless, the use of this access route varies greatly among--and even within--countries.

Transradial approach for coronary angiography and angioplasty

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1995
The transradial approach has currently been advocated as an alternative catheterization method for coronary angiography and angioplasty, due to the recent miniaturization of angioplasty equipment. The purpose of this study was to assess the practical clinical applicability of this method.

Transradial approach for renal artery stenting

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2001
AbstractPercutaneous interventional procedures in the renal arteries are usually performed using a femoral or brachial vascular access. The transradial approach, which has been extensively investigated for coronary angiography and intervention, could be an attractive new technique for renal artery angioplasty and stenting.

Percutaneous Transradial Approach for Coronary Angiography

Cardiology, 2008
A percutaneous radial artery approach for coronary angiography was performed in 40 patients using a 5-F catheter. The patients, in whom the femoral artery approach was difficult or contraindicated because of advanced arteriosclerosis, were selected on the basis of easily palpable radial and ulnar arteries and a normal Allen test.
