Asymptomatic Giant Right Ventricular Myxoma in an Adolescent: A Rare Case Report With Favorable Surgical Outcome

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
We report a 13‐year‐old female with a giant right ventricular myxoma extending to the pulmonary trunk. The tumor was diagnosed by multimodal imaging and completely resected, with favorable short‐term outcomes. ABSTRACT Right ventricular (RV) myxomas account for < 5% of cardiac myxomas and are often asymptomatic, easily overlooked.

Mobile mass in the aortic arch: A case report

open access: yesARYA Atherosclerosis, 2017
BACKGROUND: The finding of a floating mass in the aortic arch is rare and the management remains controversial. CASE Rrport: We describe a 42-year-old woman with an embolic infarction in whom transesophageal echocardiography revealed a mobile mass in the

Diagnostic Accuracy of Shear Wave Elastography for the Assessment of Congestive Liver Disease in Patients With Structural Heart Disease

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Shear wave elastography demonstrated moderate diagnostic accuracy for detecting congestive liver disease in patients with structural heart disease. Increased liver stiffness was associated with echocardiographic markers of venous congestion, supporting the concept that elastography may serve as a noninvasive marker of cardiohepatic interaction ...

Comparison of transthoracic echocardiography with second harmonic imaging with transesophageal echocardiography in the detection of right to left shunts.

open access: yes, 2000
We compared the use of transthoracic echocardiography with second harmonic imaging after a peripheral intravenous injection of an agitated saline solution with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in the detection of right to left shunts at the cardiac

Early Dapagliflozin and Melatonin Treatment Ameliorated LV Fibrosis via Suppressing TGF‐β1/Smads and Activating Nrf2‐ARE Signaling in MI Rodent

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study tested whether combined dapagliflozin (DAPA) and melatonin (Mel) therapy was superior to merely one for ameliorating the left ventricular (LV) fibrosis/remodeling and improving LV ejection fraction (LVEF) in rats after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). In vitro study demonstrated that DAPA treatment significantly suppressed the TGF‐

Circulating Musclin is associated with skeletal muscle function and subclinical cardiac dysfunction in patients with cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Musclin (osteocrin) is a skeletal muscle‐derived peptide that has been implicated in cardioprotective signalling pathways. Its relevance in cancer patients, who frequently experience muscle wasting and cardiotoxicity, remains unclear. This study aimed to determine whether circulating Musclin levels reflect functional capacity and

Screening of Mechanical Complications of Dilated Pulmonary Artery Related to the Risk for Sudden Cardiac Death in Patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension by Transthoracic Echocardiography.

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND: In patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), the mechanical complications of pulmonary artery (PA) enlargement are related to sudden cardiac death (SCD).

Cardiotoxicity of BRAF/MEK inhibitors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma type B/B‐Raf proto‐oncogene, serine/threonine kinase (BRAF) and mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MEK) inhibitors have transformed outcomes in cancer therapy, particularly in melanoma. However, cardiovascular toxicities are increasingly recognized in real‐world clinical practice.

Normal Reference Ranges for Transthoracic Echocardiography Following Heart Transplantation

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Heart function following heart transplantation (HTx) is influenced by numerous factors. It is typically evaluated using transthoracic echocardiography, but reference values are currently unavailable for this context.
