Early Detection of Left Ventricular Diverticulum by Transthoracic Echocardiography

open access: yes, 2017
Left ventricular diverticulum is a very rare entity to be found in adults. Noninvasive echocardiography can offer useful information prior to contrast-enhanced computer tomography or invasive angiography.

Impact of Left Bundle Branch Pacing on Left Ventricular Mechanical Efficiency

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
The analysis of myocardial work in 115 consecutive patients receiving left bundle branch area pacing revealed a strong correlation between all myocardial work indices recorded during spontaneous or paced rhythm. Conversely, no significant correlations were observed between myocardial work indices and the R wave peak time in V6 or the V6–V1 interpeak ...

Usefulness and limits of transthoracic echocardiography in the evaluation of patients with primary and chronic thromboembolic pulmoanry hypertension

open access: yes, 2002
The aim of the study was to evaluate the potential usefulness of transthoracic echocardiography in differentiating patients with primary or chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and to define the capability of echocardiography to assess right ...

Role of transesophageal echocardiography in diagnosis and management of cardiac hydatid cyst: Report of three cases and review of the literature

open access: yes, 2002
Although diagnostic value of transthoracic echocardiography in cardiac echinococcus is well established, the role of transesophageal echocardiography in both the diagnosis and the management of this entity is not well known. We present 3 unusual cases of

Invasive Assessment of Right Ventricular Dysfunction Predicts Periprocedural Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Unplanned Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
Displays bar graphs showing outcome rates stratified by clinical and hemodynamic variables. Asterisks (*) denote statistically significant differences (p ≤ 0.05). “NS” indicates non‐significant comparisons. Percentages are shown above each bar. The top panel corresponds to acute kidney injury (blue bars), and the bottom panel corresponds to acute ...

Comparison of Spatio‐Temporal Dispersion Electrogram Ablation and Low Voltage Zone Ablation in Patients With Persistent Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
This study compared STDE‐guided versus LVZ‐guided ablation beyond PVI in 107 persistent AF patients. At 24 months, the AF‐free survival rate was significantly higher in the STDE group (76.3% vs. 58.4%, p=0.027). STDE ablation independently reduced recurrence risk (HR: 0.29, p=0.004), providing superior clinical efficacy over LVZ ablation.

Impact of Carina Width on Re‐Ablation Rate of Atrial Fibrillation After Primary Cryoballoon‐Ablation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
Right side carina width is associated with the incidence of reconnection of RPVs and re‐ablation. Increased left side carina width was associated with re‐ablation rate, but there was no association with reconnection of the LPVs. ABSTRACT Background Reconnection of the pulmonary veins (PVs) is the primary cause of atrial fibrillation (AF) episodes after

Cardiovascular Responses to Natural and Auditory Evoked Slow Waves Predict Post‐Sleep Cardiac Function

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The importance of sleep as a key component of cardiovascular health has been increasingly recognized. Our previous research demonstrated that auditory‐enhanced slow waves increase cardiac function, but the underlying mechanisms behind these beneficial effects remain uncertain. In this study, we examined the influence of two types of slow waves

Intracardiac Echocardiography Guided Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in a Severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patient Ineligible for Standard Echocardiography

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Intracardiac echocardiography can be performed under local anesthesia and provides real‐time monitoring with high image quality without interference from the procedure during transcatheter aortic valve replacement, even when transthoracic ...
