Starch granulomas after transurethral resection of bladder tumors

Urology, 1976
Starch granulomas have been observed in 3 patients in a series of 140 under treatment for bladder cancer during the period 1949 to 1969 in one hospital. The lesions were observed at the fourth or subsequent transurethral procedure, suggesting strongly that the starch had been introduced at a previous transurethral procedure.

Transurethral resection of bladder tumors under local anesthesia

Urology, 1983
More than two thirds of urothelial bladder tumors are of small or intermediate size and of low grade. These lesions are treated mostly with transurethral resection. Urethral Strictures after Transurethral Bladder Tumor Resection

Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology, 1989
The charts on 241 patients, consecutively undergoing a total of 2043 transurethral resections of bladder tumors and subsequent controls, were reviewed to find the incidence and possible causes of postoperative urethral stricture. The incidence of urethral stricture was 15% in males and 4% in females, but less than one-third were symptomatic.

INTRAVESICAL EXPLOSION DURING TRANSURETHRAL RESECTION OF BLADDER TUMORS

Journal of Urology, 2004
A 56-year-old white male underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumors that presented 7 years after radical retropubic prostatectomy. A 25Fr resectoscope sheath was used with a wire loop electrode set at a cutting current of 120 watts (pure cut) and a coagulating current of 80 watts. Sterile water was used as the irrigating fluid.
