Transurethral Resection of a Bladder Tumor by the use of a Polypectomy Snare
Journal of Urology, 1980A polypectomy snare has been used for the transurethral resection of bladder tumors. The method is easy and resection of a main tumor en bloc is rapid in cases with a 3 cm. or less bladder tumor and tumors that are difficult to resect with customary methods because of location.

‘‘Do no harm’’ is one of the precepts of medicine. However, iatrogenic errors in health care often result in an adverse patient outcome. These errorsmay occur in the perioperative setting. A large proportion of perioperative complications are, regrettably, avoidable. In the aviation industry, similar errors can have devastating consequences.

Transurethral Resection and Intravesical Therapy of Superficial Bladder Tumors
Urologic Clinics of North America, 1991The treatment of superficial bladder cancer is aimed at eradicating existing disease, inhibiting tumor recurrence, and preventing progression to invasion or metastasis. Transurethral resection is the primary modality, with intravesical therapy used in some cases to kill residual overt or occult carcinoma and premalignant lesions.

We compared hexaminolevulinate (HAL) blue light cystoscopy (BLC) with standard white light cystoscopy (WLC) in the diagnosis of noninvasive bladder tumors (NIBT) and analyzed the efficiency of blue light transurethral resection of the bladder (BL-TURB).WLC and BLC were performed in 64 cases.

Vesicoureteral Reflux Following Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumors
Journal of Urology, 1976Vesicoureteral reflux after transurethral resection of bladder tumors is a significant complication (19 per cent incidence in the present series). Although most patients with such reflux suffer no apparent ill effects renal destruction occurs in some.

Transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT) presents surgeons with challenges of limited tool dexterity. This paper investigates the limitations of dexterity and resection reach and accuracy within the intra-vesicular space of the bladder. The paper assumes the kinematics and geometry of current tools used for TURBT.

[The complications of transurethral resection of the bladder for tumor].
Urologiia i nefrologiia, 1996Transurethral resection (TUR) is now widely used in combined treatment of urinary bladder cancer, but the procedure may be compromised if applied without evaluation of infiltration and malignancy degree and metastases responsible for frequent recurrences. The aim of this study was design of effective measures to prevent TUR complications.

Transurethral resection (TUR) in the therapy of bladder tumors
International Urology and Nephrology, 1982The results of TUR in the therapy of bladder tumors are evaluated in 462 cases. TUR may be indicated for diagnostic, therapeutic or palliative purposes in all stages of bladder cancer. It has been confirmed by the present analysis that TUR is superior in various respects to open surgery.
