Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Some Applications of Eigenvalue Problems for Tensor and Tensor–Block Matrices for Mathematical Modeling of Micropolar Thin Bodies

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2019
The statement of the eigenvalue problem for a tensor–block matrix (TBM) of any order and of any even rank is formulated, and also some of its special cases are considered.

Neo-Hookean fiber composites undergoing finite out-of-plane shear deformations

open access: yes, 2005
The response of a neo-Hookean fiber composite undergoing finite out-of-plane shear deformation is examined. To this end an explicit close form solution for the out-of-plane shear response of a cylindrical composite element is introduced. We find that the

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness. By combining multiscale predictive modeling with experimental validation on additively manufactured gyroids, it demonstrates tunable stiffness, collapse stress, and energy absorption.

Frictionless Contact Between a Rigid Indentor and a Transversely Isotropic Functionally Graded Layer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2018
This article is concerned with the study of frictionless contact between a rigid punch and a transversely isotropic functionally graded layer. The rigid punch is assumed to be axially symmetric and is supposed to be pressing the layer by an applied ...

Acousto-ultrasonic input-output characterization of unidirectional fiber composite plate by SH waves [PDF]

open access: yes
A unidirectional fiberglass epoxy composite plate specimen is modelled as a homogeneous transversely isotropic continuum plate medium. Acousto-ultrasonic non-contact input-output characterization by tracing SH waves in the continuum is studied ...

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Study of thermoelastic waves at the interface between layers during 3D printing of building structures [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
In our paper, we study a traveling wave in a transversely isotropic medium caused by the resulting temperature gradient between layers during 3D printing of building structures.

Acousto-ultrasonic input-output characterization of unidirectional fiber composite plate by P waves [PDF]

open access: yes
The single reflection problem for an incident P wave at a stress free plane boundary in a semi-infinite transversely isotropic medium whose isotropic plane is parallel to the plane boundary is analyzed.
