Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Evaluation criteria of centralization options in the architecture of multicomputer systems with traps and baits

open access: yesРадіоелектронні і комп'ютерні системи
Independent restructuring of the architecture of multicomputer systems during their operation is a complex task, since such systems are distributed. One of the tasks in this restructuring is to change the architecture of system centers.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Schemes for loading a Bose-Einstein condensate into a two-dimensional dipole trap

open access: yes, 2003
We propose two loading mechanisms of a degenerate Bose gas into a surface trap. This trap relies on the dipole potential produced by two evanescent optical waves far detuned from the atomic resonance, yielding a strongly anisotropic trap with typical ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

COMPARISON OF TRAP AND BAITED STICK CATCH EFFICIENCY FOR NOBLE CRAYFISH (ASTACUS ASTACUS L.) IN THE COURSE OF THE GROWING SEASON

open access: yesKnowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems, 2005
Noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) were caught using traps and baited sticks in Svğtlohorská reservoir in the Czech Republic, and the catch efficiency and size and sex composition in catches were compared during the growing season (May-September).

A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing
