Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Solid-state magnetic traps and lattices

open access: yes, 2018
We propose and analyze magnetic traps and lattices for electrons in semiconductors. We provide a general theoretical framework and show that thermally stable traps can be generated by magnetically driving the particle's internal spin transition, akin to ...

Thermoluminescence and optically stimulated luminescence of gamma-irradiated mineral zircon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Thermoluminescence (TL) manifested by gamma-irradiated mineral zircon has shown a strong TL peak at about 165 °C which is due to recombination of electrons and Dy3+ related shallow hole traps.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Comparative study of Opera House traps with Funnel traps for catching Astacus leptodactylus in the Arass water reservoir

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2005
Presently the crayfish fishermen in Arass water reservoir use only Funnel traps. This study was conducted in 2002, to aimed for evaluating the ability of catch, sex ratio and the size frequency of crayfish with the Opera House traps and Funnel traps ...

How to Count Bugs: A Method to Estimate the Most Probable Absolute Population Density and Its Statistical Bounds from a Single Trap Catch

open access: yesInsects, 2021
Knowledge of insect population density is crucial for establishing management and conservation tactics and evaluating treatment efficacies. Here, we propose a simple and universal method for estimating the most probable absolute population density and ...

Excitation decay in one-dimensional disordered systems with paired traps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Incoherent transport of excitations in one-dimensional disordered lattices with pairs of traps placed at random is studied by numerically solving the corresponding master equation.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Catches in ghost-fishing octopus and fish traps in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean (Algarve, Portugal) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Ghost fishing is the term used to describe the continued capture of fish and other living organisms after a fisherman has lost all control over the gear.
