Estimating the Relative Stiffness between a Hepatic Lesion and the Liver Parenchyma through Biomechanical Simulations of the Breathing Process

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
In this paper, a method to in vivo estimate the relative stiffness between a hepatic lesion and the liver parenchyma is presented. This method is based on the finite element simulation of the deformation that the liver undergoes during the breathing process. Boundary conditions are obtained through a registration algorithm known as Coherent Point Drift

Health‐Related Quality of Life after Pediatric Liver Transplantation: A Qualitative Analysis of the Perspectives of Health Care Providers

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
With improved survival outcomes after pediatric liver transplantation (LT), health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) is an important outcome metric. Understanding the elements contributing to HRQoL after LT in children would enable more targeted strategies towards optimizing best outcomes.
