Journal of British Surgery, 1981 Summary Traumatic renal artery occlusion is relatively rare. Prior to 1974 there were only 38 cases reported in the literature (1). The true incidence, however, is greater and the diagnosis is frequently missed at the time of the original injury. Less than 50 per cent of cases will develop hypertension.
