Empirical travel time estimation in a distribution network
Water Management, 2002In the calibration procedure adopted for most hydraulic network models, parameters are adjusted to ensure that measured and computed pressures are approximately equal. Little emphasis is placed on confirmation of a correct flowrate distribution. Such procedures can therefore promote erroneous flowrate solutions.

Estimation of Link Travel Time Distribution With Limited Traffic Detectors
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2020Motivated by the network tomography, in this paper, we present a novel methodology to estimate link travel time distributions (TTDs) using end-to-end (E2E) measurements detected by the limited traffic detectors at or near the road intersections.

Towards Time Travel in Distributed Event-sourced Systems
Proceedings of the 12th ACM International Conference on Distributed and Event-based Systems, 2018Stateful applications are based on the state they hold and how it changes over time. This history of state changes is usually discarded as the application progresses. By building on concepts from event processing and storing the application history we envision a novel programming paradigm that supports retroaction.

A Platoon Matching Approach for the Estimation of Arterial Travel Time Distributions
2020 IEEE 23rd International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2020Estimating Arterial Travel Time distributions on a regular basis is a challenging task for urban traffic agencies. Even though high-resolution loop detector data is usually available, the lack of other data modes and ground-truth labels hinders travel time estimation approaches that rely on such additional information.Among the approaches relying ...

Screening of Groundwater Contaminants by Travel‐Time Distributions
Journal of Environmental Engineering, 1989Analytical procedures are proposed for estimating probability distributions of travel times for chemical waste loads to groundwater. Travel distance of the chemical is treated as a renewal process, and travel time is given by the number of annual chemical displacements or renewals required for passage through the soil unsaturated zone. The methods were

Estimation of the distribution of travel times by repeated simulation
Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies, 2008In recent years, the reliability of transport systems has been widely recognised as a key issue in transport planning and evaluation. To analyse the level of reliability we need information about the distribution of travel times. Transport analysts are in a serious need for tools to estimate this distribution in hypothetical scenarios, but there are ...

Critical capacity, travel time delays and travel time distribution of rapid mass transit systems
Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2014Abstract We set up a mechanistic agent-based model of a rapid mass transit system. Using empirical data from Singapore’s unidentifiable smart fare card, we validate our model by reconstructing actual travel demand and duration of travel statistics. We subsequently use this model to investigate two phenomena that are known to significantly affect the ...

Estimating travel time distributions using copula graphical lasso
2017 IEEE 20th International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2017Travel time information is crucial for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Taxis equipped with GPS tracking systems are one possible source for extracting travel time information. In this study, we present a framework for estimating travel time distributions on a city-scale network based on GPS trajectories of taxis.

Analysis of Travel Time Distribution for Varying Length of Time Interval
2020This study intends to determine the most appropriate distribution for modeling travel time variability. It also aims to explore the effects of the time of day and the length of the analysis time interval on the type of the best-fit probability distribution function.
