Comparative study on travel time reliability indexes for highway users and operators

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2012
SUMMARYTravel time reliability is an emerging evaluation measure for highway network service levels. This paper focuses on travel time reliability indexes for a highway network and proposes new travel time indexes for users. The paper also discusses and compares several previously and newly proposed indexes for use by both highway users and operators ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Examining the Impact of Adverse Weather on Travel Time Reliability of Urban Corridors in Shanghai

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2020
Travel time reliability (TTR) is widely used to evaluate transportation system performance. Adverse weather condition is an important factor for affecting TTR, which can cause traffic congestions and crashes. Considering the traffic characteristics under

A Study on Travel Time Estimation of Diverging Traffic Stream on Highways Based on Timestamp Data

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2021
Travel time is valuable information for both drivers and traffic managers. While properly estimating the travel time of a single road section, an issue arises when multiple traffic streams exist.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Optimization of the Reversible Lane considering the Relationship between Traffic Capacity and Number of Lanes

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2022
To make full use of road resources, improve the operation efficiency of the road network system, and alleviate the coexistence between traffic congestion and road resources idle caused by the traffic tidal phenomenon, the impact of the number of lanes on
