The statistical mechanics of combinatorial optimization problems with site disorder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We study the statistical mechanics of a class of problems whose phase space is the set of permutations of an ensemble of quenched random positions. Specific examples analyzed are the finite temperature traveling salesman problem on several different ...

Characterization of Macro/Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Austenitic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Spin-glass model of QCD near saturation

open access: yes, 2006
We establish a connection between the cascading of gluon momenta modeled with the diffusive approximation of the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov kernel and the thermodynamics of directed polymers on a tree with disorder.

Quantum Annealing and Analog Quantum Computation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We review here the recent success in quantum annealing, i.e., optimization of the cost or energy functions of complex systems utilizing quantum fluctuations.

Influence of radiation and thermal slip on electrically conductive dusty Walter’s B fluid moving peristaltically through an asymmetric channel

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
Motivation: The motivation of this recent article is to study dusty Walter’s B fluid flow due to its wide range of applications in biology and polymer industry. The fluid is traveling peristaltically through an asymmetric channel with wall slip.

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Comparative Study of Multicanonical and Simulated Annealing Algorithms in the Protein Folding Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We compare a few variants of the recently proposed multicanonical method with the well known simulated annealing for the effectiveness in search of the energy global minimum of a biomolecular system. For this we study in detail Met-enkephalin, one of the
