Thermoacoustic effect of traveling–standing wave
Cryogenics, 2010Abstract In order to improve thermoacoustic efficiency, the thermoacoustic devices have been developed from standing wave devices to traveling wave devices. Actually, the acoustic field in practical thermoacoustic devices is neither a pure traveling wave nor a pure standing wave.

Effects of corona on traveling waves
Electrical Engineering, 1955THE effect of corona on traveling waves is to retard any given point on a voltage wave above the corona threshold value by an amount proportional to the distance traveled. Thus the effect is equivalent to a reduction in velocity. If a linear circuit can be characterized by assigning to it a certain inductance L and capacitance C, per unit length, then ...

Plasma effects in a travelling wave tube
Physica Scripta, 2010The effect of a plasma on a travelling wave tube comprising a sheath helix is studied. The plasma, taken to be (i) strongly magnetized or (ii) unmagnetized, allows a larger beam current to pass owing to charge and current neutralization. The beam excites an azimuthally symmetric slow wave via Cerenkov resonance.
