Saturation effects in a travelling-wave parametric amplifier
Proceedings of the IEE Part B: Electronic and Communication Engineering, 1960The equations governing the voltage distribution along a parametric travelling-wave amplifier can, under certain conditions, be solved in terms of elliptic functions. The solution shows that there is a spatially periodic transfer of energy between the signal, idling and pumping waves.

Nonlinear Traveling-Wave Effects on Cooling Tower
Journal of the Structural Division, 1982The dynamic response of a tall reinforced-concrete hyperbolic cooling tower which has been designed for vertically incident seismic waves, based on a linear analysis, is examined for horizontally propagating waves of the same amplitude. The nonlinear response is also calculated, taking the material law of the reinforcing steel and of the concrete in ...

Development of shock waves in traveling-wave field-effect transistors
Journal of Applied Physics, 2012We investigated shock waves that developed in a traveling-wave field-effect transistor (TWFET) and determine that waves in a TWFET are dynamically governed by the damped nonlinear hyperbolic equation, which is known to have traveling fronts and shock waves as solutions.

Topology and discontinuities effect on CMOS rotary traveling wave oscillators
2017 14th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE), 2017In this paper, the effects of geometrical discontinuities and topological structure on Rotary Travelling Wave Oscillators (RTWO) are studied. Using the 3D electromagnetic simulator EMPro Simulation Software Design Platform, we have found that reducing the corner discontinuities can increase the oscillation frequency up to 3.34%.

A linear analysis of the effect of Faradaic currents on traveling-wave electroosmosis
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2007Net fluid flow of electrolytic solutions induced by a traveling-wave potential applied to an array of co-planar interdigitated microelectrodes has been reported. At low applied voltages the flow is driven in the direction of the traveling-wave potential, as expected by linear and weakly nonlinear theoretical studies.

Gravitational effects of traveling waves along global cosmic strings
Physical Review D, 1992Making use of the relationship between the corresponding field configurations, we derive the metric around a straight global cosmic string with traveling waves in terms of the static metric (without traveling waves) in the weak-field limit. We discuss under which conditions the effect of the traveling waves may overcome the repulsive gravitational ...

Phase slippage, nonadiabatic effect, and dynamics of a source of traveling waves
Physical Review Letters, 1993Experimental studies of the source dynamics of counterpropagating waves in a convecting binary fluid are presented. The source motion is controlled by side heating. There exists a locking band inside which the source is pinned by the underlying roll structure. Outside this band the source commences to move abruptly by steps of half a wavelength.

Traveling wave ultrasonic motor: coupling effects in free stator
Ultrasonics, 2003Generally a stator of traveling wave ultrasonic motor (TWUM) consists of piezoelectric transducers (annular plate or rods) coupled by the way of a metallic ring. These transducers divided into halves are excited independently by two electrical signals with different phases of about 90 degrees.
