Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.

The Potential Health Benefits of Urban Tree Planting Suggested through Immersive Environments

open access: yesLand
Disruptive change in urban landscapes, such as large-scale tree planting, is complicated by the different priorities of the wide range of urban stakeholders.

Tree modules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
After stating several tools which can be used to construct indecomposable tree modules for quivers without oriented cycles, we use these methods to construct indecomposable tree modules for every imaginary Schur root. These methods also give a recipe for

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Tree-Independent Dual-Tree Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Dual-tree algorithms are a widely used class of branch-and-bound algorithms. Unfortunately, developing dual-tree algorithms for use with different trees and problems is often complex and burdensome.

The Rank of Tree-Automatic Linear Orderings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We generalise Delhomm\'e's result that each tree-automatic ordinal is strictly below \omega^\omega^\omega{} by showing that any tree-automatic linear ordering has FC-rank strictly below \omega^\omega.

Iteration Trees [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Mathematical Society, 1994
This paper gives a further report on work done some years ago, which has led to relatively complete understanding of the relationship between the consistency of determinacy and large cardinals.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...
