Application of Conventional and Improved Techniques in Felling and Skidding to Residual Stand Damages

open access: yesJurnal Manajemen Hutan Tropika, 2023
Felling and skidding are essential in the timber extraction process. But on the other hand, residual stand damage can’t be avoided. This study aimed to analyze the impact of conventional and improved felling and skidding techniques on residual stands in

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Criteria for the sustainability of tree stands during timber harvesting in mature and overmature stands [PDF]

open access: yesСибирский лесной журнал
The formation of sustainable tree stands during timber harvesting in mature and overmature stands is largely determined by logging methods used and the technological methods for their implementation.

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

LLM‐Integrated Human–Robot Interaction System for Microrobots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This paper proposes an LLM‐based control framework for guiding microrobots using human natural language. This framework can convert the natural human speech into safe and executable command sets for reliable navigation in complex environments. The experimental results show high accuracy and robustness in task performance, demonstrating the potential of

3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.
