Integrated pest management in tree fruit crops

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) was born in the late 1950s out of a crisis in agriculture resulting from an overuse of synthetic pesticides. Core concepts of IPM are grounded in the principles of ecology. IPM is practiced to some degree in all agricultural crops, but synthetic pesticides remain a dominant tactic in managing pests.
