Tree level spontaneous R-symmetry breaking in O'Raifeartaigh models

open access: yes, 2011
We show that in O'Raifeartaigh models of spontaneous supersymmetry breaking, R-symmetries can be broken by non-zero values of fields at tree level, rather than by vacuum expectation values of pseudomoduli at loop level.

Traumatic Microhemorrhages Are Not Synonymous With Axonal Injury

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diffuse axonal injury (DAI) is caused by acceleration‐deceleration forces during trauma that shear white matter tracts. Susceptibility‐weighted MRI (SWI) identifies microbleeds that are considered the radiologic hallmark of DAI and are used in clinical prognostication.

World Sheet and Space Time Physics in Two Dimensional (Super) String Theory

open access: yes, 1991
We show that tree level ``resonant'' $N$ tachyon scattering amplitudes, which define a sensible ``bulk'' S -- matrix in critical (super) string theory in any dimension, have a simple structure in two dimensional space time, due to partial decoupling of a

Trajectories of Physical Function in Canadian Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives We describe trajectories of physical function in children newly diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and identify trajectories with persisting functional impairments and associated baseline characteristics. Methods We included patients enrolled in the Canadian Alliance of Pediatric Rheumatology Investigators (CAPRI) Registry ...

Granulation Using Clustering And Rough Set Theory And Its Tree Representation

open access: yes, 2007
Granular computing deals with representation of information in the form of some aggregates and related methods for transformation and analysis for problem solving. A granulation scheme based on clustering and Rough Set Theory is presented with focus on structured conceptualization of information has been presented in this paper.

On the Tree-Level Structure of Scattering Amplitudes of Massless Particles

open access: yes, 2011
We provide a new set of on-shell recursion relations for tree-level scattering amplitudes, which are valid for any non-trivial theory of massless particles. In particular, we reconstruct the scattering amplitudes from (a subset of) their poles and zeroes.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Uncertainty-Aware Dynamic Reliability Analysis Framework for Complex Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Critical technological systems exhibit complex dynamic characteristics such as time-dependent behavior, functional dependencies among events, sequencing and priority of causes that may alter the effects of failure.

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Grassmann Integral Representation for Spanning Hyperforests

open access: yes, 2007
Given a hypergraph G, we introduce a Grassmann algebra over the vertex set, and show that a class of Grassmann integrals permits an expansion in terms of spanning hyperforests.
