Formulation of a New Mixed Four‐Node Quadrilateral Element for Static Bending Analysis of Variable Thickness Functionally Graded Material Plates

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
A new mixed four‐node quadrilateral element (MiQ4) is established in this paper to investigate functionally graded material (FGM) plates with variable thickness. The proposed element is developed based on the first‐order shear deformation and mixed finite element technique, so the new element does not need any selective or reduced numerical integration.

Solution representations for Trefftz-type finite elements

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
Solution representations are available for several differential equations. For elasticity problems some of the solution representations are considered in this paper.

On Jirousek method and its generalizations

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
Professor Jirousek has been a very important driving force in the modern development of Trefftz method, contributing to its application in many different fields such as elasticity, shells and plates theory, Poisson equation and transient heat analysis ...

The derivation of special purpose element functions using complex solution representations

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
For several elasticity problems, solution representations for the displacements and stresses are available. The solution representations are given in terms of "arbitrary" complex valued functions.

Trefftz-type procedure for Laplace equation on domains with circular holes, circular inclusions, corners, slits, and symmetry

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
The purpose of the paper is to propose of a way of constructing trial functions for the indirect Trefftz method as applied to harmonic problems possessing circular holes, circular inclusions, corners, slits, and symmetry.

Trefftz functions and application to 3D elasticity

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2022
When solving complex boundary value problems, the primary advantage of the Trefftz method is that Trefftz functions a priori satisfy the governing differential equations.

A Mixed Stress/Displacement Approach Model of Homogeneous Shells for Elastodynamic Problems

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
This paper presents the development of a model of homogeneous, moderately thick shells for elastodynamic problems. The model is obtained by adapting and modifying SAM‐H model (stress approach model of homogeneous shells) developed by Domínguez Alvarado and Díaz in (2018) for static problems.
