Trellis coding for spatial modulation

2011 IEEE 19th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2011
In this study, by combining trellis coding with spatial modulation (SM), a new multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) communication scheme called trellis coded spatial modulation (TC-SM) is proposed. For uncorrelated Rayleigh fading channels, code design criteria are given by deriving pairwise error probability (PEP) of this system, in which a trellis ...

Turbo trellis-coded spatial modulation

2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012
In this paper, a turbo trellis-coded spatial modulation (TTCSM) transmission scheme is proposed. In trellis-coded spatial modulation (TCSM) scheme, the information bits used to select the transmit antenna index are encoded. In order to increase the performances of the TCSM scheme, a parallel concatenated encoding scheme can be used. Therefore, the TCSM

Phase ambiguity resolution in trellis-coded modulations

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1990
A rotation detection algorithm for solving the phase ambiguity problem in trellis-coded modulations is proposed. This algorithm is simple to implement and may be an efficient alternative to rotationally invariant codes. Its performance has been investigated by simulation and appears promising. >

A nonpragmatic approach to turbo trellis coded modulations

2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2003
A novel approach to combine turbo coding and high level modulation is introduced. Systematic trellis coded M-ary modulations are used as constituent codes. This scheme is a direct generalization to M-ary modulations of binary turbo codes. As a result, the whole iterative process is performed at M-ary symbol level.

Robust bandlimited watermarking with trellis coded modulation

Proceedings. International Conference on Image Processing, 2003
Digital watermarking is equivalent to bandlimited, power-limited digital communication. The power limit is due to the requirement of imperceptible watermarks, and has long been recognized. The bandwidth limit is due to the lowpass spectrum of images and possible lowpass attacks (malicious or unintentional).

Multiple trellis coded frequency and phase modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1992
Multiple trellis coded modulation of constant envelope frequency and phase modulated signal sets (MTCM/FPM) is investigated for performance on the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and on the one-sided normal, Rayleigh and Rician fading channels.

Multirate trellis coded modulation in multimedia communications

2000 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. ICME2000. Proceedings. Latest Advances in the Fast Changing World of Multimedia (Cat. No.00TH8532), 2000
Multirate multimedia information with different quality of service may be required at the same time in future communication systems. We propose a new class of trellis coded modulation (TCM) schemes, which can carry two different rates of multimedia information only using the same signal constellation.

EXIT Charts for Turbo Trellis-Coded Modulation

IEEE Communications Letters, 2004
In this letter, we extend the previously proposed extrinsic information transfer charts (EXIT) method to the analysis of the convergence of turbo codes to turbo trellis-coded modulation (TTCM) schemes. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through examples.

Cooperative Amplify-and-Forward with Trellis Coded Modulation

2009 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2009
In a cooperative communication network, individual users are encouraged not only to transmit their own data, but also relay other user's data. This relaying transmission creates spatial diversity to combat the effect of individual severe fading and path loss.

The performance of trellis-coded modulation

TENCON'92 - Technology Enabling Tomorrow, 2003
Trellis-coded modulation (TCM) in an 8-PSK (phase shift keying) scheme is more power efficient than uncoded QPSK at the same spectral efficiency on perfect coherent detection. For the same signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of phase reference, the sensitivity to phase offset for 8-PSK is more serious than for uncoded QPSK.
