Genética de poblaciones amazónicas: la historia evolutiva del jaguar, ocelote, delfín rosado, mono lanudo y piurí, reconstruida a partir de sus genes [PDF]
The Amazon has more than the half of the world's biodiversity. Nevertheless, the major fraction of the Amazon species has unknown evolutionary histories. This is also certain for mammals and birds.

Leukoencephalomacia due to ischemic vascular accident in a Tremarctos ornatus (Spectacled bear)
Abstract Tremactor ornatus (Spectacled bear) are the only ursids natives of South America and are present in many Zoo collections. Neurologic diseases are not common in this species and brain injuries are linked mainly to viral diseases; however ischemic brain events are not commonly reported.

Abstract Mammals exhibit ecology‐related diversity in long bone morphology, revealing an ample spectrum of adaptations both within and between clades. Their occupation of unique ecological niches in postcranial morphology is thought to have occurred at different chronological phases in relation to abiotic factors such as climate and biotic interactions

Ghostbusting—Reducing bias due to identification errors in spatial capture‐recapture histories
Abstract Identifying individuals is key to estimating population sizes by spatial capture–recapture, but identification errors are sometimes made. The most common identification error is the failure to recognise a previously detected individual, thus creating a ‘ghost’ Johansson. This results in positively biased abundance estimates.

Forest regeneration in tropical bracken‐dominated deforested areas is mainly hindered by dispersal limitation. We found differences in species composition of seed‐dispersing birds and bats between the forest and bracken‐dominated areas, which could be one of the main causes of dispersal limitation in forest regeneration in tropical bracken‐dominated ...

Dramatic environmental changes associated with global cooling since the late Miocene, and the onset of glacial-interglacial cycles in the Pleistocene served as a backdrop to the evolutionary radiation of modern bears (family Ursidae). These environmental

Intervertebral mobility and backbone properties were studied in 34 species of terrestrial carnivorans. Carnivorans that seize prey with their jaws (canids and hyaenids) are characterized by a significantly elongated neck and increased vertebral mobility in the sagittal and horizontal planes.
