Response of the Rumen Microbiota of Sika Deer (Cervus nippon) Fed Different Concentrations of Tannin Rich Plants. [PDF]
High throughput sequencing was used to examine the rumen microbiota of sika deer fed high (OLH) and low concentration (OLL) of tannin rich oak leaves. The results showed that Prevotella spp. were the most dominant bacteria.

Alteration of subgingival microbiome in patients with type 2 diabetes induced by diabetes treatment
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Diabetes and periodontal disease, a bacterial infection involving the oral microbiome, have a bidirectional relationship. However, the relationship between poor glycemic control and the oral microbiome remains unclear. The aim of this study was to assess the direct effect of intensive glycemic control on the oral microbiome ...

Periodontitis and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: Mechanistic Evidence
This review aims to provide a conceptual framework for understanding the mechanistic interplay between periodontitis and IBD, with a particular emphasis on the microbial and immunological crosstalk linking the oral cavity and the gastrointestinal tract.

Oral Health, Periodontitis, and Respiratory Diseases: Biological Pathways
This narrative review aims to provide a comprehensive update on the potential mechanisms by which poor oral health and periodontitis impact lung health, focusing on pneumonia, COPD, and asthma. ABSTRACT Poor oral hygiene and periodontitis influence lung diseases such as pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), COVID‐19, and asthma.

Periodontitis and Rheumatoid Arthritis—Mechanistic Evidence
Periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis are linked via the two‐hit model whereby early periodontal inflammation can lead to autoantibody production capable of interacting with inflamed synovial tissues. Subsequent systemic inflammation can exacerbate the periodontal inflammatory response and bacterial dysbiosis leading to further autoantibody production

Experimental inoculation of Treponema pedis T A4 failed to induce ear necrosis in pigs
Ear necrosis is a syndrome affecting pigs shortly after weaning and is regarded as an animal welfare issue. The etiology is unknown but Treponema spp., predominantly Treponema pedis, are commonly detected in the lesions.
