Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

An efficient algorithm for determining the Huet-Sayegh viscoelastic model parameters based on creep compliance data

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics
The Huet-Sayegh (HS) model is a well-known rheological model in pavement engineering for its excellence in predicting the linear viscoelastic (LVE) behavior of asphaltic materials.

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

The Pre-trial Phase in a Criminal Proceeding: Ideas for an Effective Process within a Reasonable Time

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Social Sciences, 2016
Article 6.1 of European Convention of Human Rights (the Convention) and article 42.2 of Albanian Constitution (the Constitution) guarantee to everyone who is subject to criminal proceedings the right to a final decision within a reasonable time. According to the so called “principle of determination”, which governs the criminal procedure, the power of

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...
