EFFICACY OF INSECTICIDES OF NATURAL ORIGIN IN WHITEFLY (TRIALEURODES VAPORARIORUM) CONTROL IN TOMATO
Acta Horticulturae, 2012Biological efficacy of three insecticides of natural origin (azadirachtin, strain ATCC 74040 of entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana, and spinosad) and of one synthetic insecticide (acetamiprid) in the control of larvae and adults of whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) was investigated.

Treatment with buprofezin at the beginning of the third instar of Trialeurodes vaporariorum results in death of the larvae at the time of moulting. Electron microscopic observations, after treatment of the larvae with 20 mg a.i./l buprofezin, does not reveal any difference in the ultrastructural profile before apolysis, however formation of a normal ...

PREDATORY MITES FOR BIOCONTROL OF THE GREENHOUSE WHITEFLY, TRIALEURODES VAPORARIORUM IN CUT ROSES
Acta Horticulturae, 2007Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is successfully used on a year-round scale on only 15% of the area of roses under glass. Obstacles for further expansion of IPM practices among rose growers are the control of the spidermite Tetranychus urticae and the greenhouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum.

Entomopathogenic fungi of the genus Aschersonia are specific for whitefly and scale insects. They can be used as biological control agents against silverleaf whitefly, Bemisia argentifolii and greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum. Forty-four isolates of Aschersonia spp.

Visual behaviour of the greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum
Physiological Entomology, 1982ABSTRACT. The behaviour of Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) (Homoptera, Aleyrodidae) in violet and green light (400 and 550 nm) was examined using several responses. Under 400 nm the whiteflies took‐off more readily and walked faster than under 500 nm.
