Economic Growth, Inequalities and Poverty in Slovakia from 2005 to 2015 (the Analysis of Relations and Contexts at a Regional Level)

open access: yesEuropean Spatial Research and Policy, 2018
Poverty rate is influenced by numerous factors. The determining ones are economic growth and the distribution of its effects. This article is therefore focused on the analysis of these effects and their relationship, as well as their influence on poverty

The Independence Ratio of 4‐Cycle‐Free Planar Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Graph Theory, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We prove that every n $n$‐vertex planar graph G $G$ with no triangle sharing an edge with a 4‐cycle has independence ratio n ∕ α ( G ) ≤ 4 − ε $n\unicode{x02215}\alpha (G)\le 4-\varepsilon $ for ε = 1 ∕ 30 $\varepsilon =1\unicode{x02215}30$. This result implies that the same bound holds for 4‐cycle‐free planar graphs and planar graphs with no ...

Geometric Interpretation of Surface Tension Equilibrium in Superhydrophobic Systems

open access: yesEntropy, 2015
Surface tension and surface energy are closely related, although not identical concepts. Surface tension is a generalized force; unlike a conventional mechanical force, it is not applied to any particular body or point.

Management Control Systems, Bricolage, and Frugal Innovation: Effects on Value Creation in Startups With a Social Mission

open access: yesKnowledge and Process Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study analyzes the effects of the management control systems (social networking and organic innovative culture), via bricolage and frugal innovation, in the social and economic value creation of startups with a social mission. Data from 118 Brazilian startups with a social mission were analyzed using structural equation modeling and fuzzy‐

Explainable human‐in‐the‐loop healthcare image information quality assessment and selection

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Smart healthcare applications cannot be separated from healthcare data analysis and the interactive interpretability between data and model. A human‐in‐the‐loop active learning approach is introduced to reduce the cost of healthcare data labelling by evaluating the information quality of unlabelled medical data and then screening the high ...

Ground state solutions for asymptotically periodic fractional Choquard equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2019
This paper is dedicated to studying the following fractional Choquard equation \begin{equation*} (-\triangle)^s u+V(x)u=\left(\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}\frac{Q(y)F(u(y))}{|x-y|^\mu}\mathrm{d}y\right)Q(x)f(u), \qquad u\in H^s(\mathbb{R}^{N}), \end{equation*

Moderate Deviation Principles for Lacunary Trigonometric Sums

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Classical works of Kac, Salem, and Zygmund, and Erdős and Gál have shown that lacunary trigonometric sums despite their dependency structure behave in various ways like sums of independent and identically distributed random variables. For instance, they satisfy a central limit theorem (CLT) and a law of the iterated logarithm.

Operator inequalities via the triangle inequality

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Inequalities
This article improves the triangle inequality for complex numbers, using the Hermite-Hadamard inequality for convex functions. Then, applications of the obtained refinement are presented to include some operator inequalities. The operator applications include numerical radius inequalities and operator mean inequalities.

A highly accurate numerical method for solving boundary value problem of generalized Bagley‐Torvik equation

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
A highly accurate numerical method is given for the solution of boundary value problem of generalized Bagley‐Torvik (BgT) equation with Caputo derivative of order 0<β<2$$ 0<\beta <2 $$ by using the collocation‐shooting method (C‐SM). The collocation solution is constructed in the space Sm+1(1)$$ {S}_{m+1}^{(1)} $$ as piecewise polynomials of degree at ...
