Cyclic amenability of Lau product and module extension Banach algebras
Introduction The notion of weak amenability for commutative Banach algebras was introduced and studied for the first time by Bade, Curtis and Dales. Johnson extended this concept to the non commutative case and showed that group algebras of all locally ...

Three‐dimensional lattice ground states for Riesz and Lennard‐Jones–type energies
Abstract The Riesz potential fs(r)=r−s$f_s(r)=r^{-s}$ is known to be an important building block of many interactions, including Lennard‐Jones–type potentials fn,mLJ(r):=ar−n−br−m$f_{n,m}^{\rm {LJ}}(r):=a r^{-n}-b r^{-m}$, n>m$n>m$ that are widely used in molecular simulations.

The images of multilinear polynomials on strictly upper triangular matrices [PDF]
The purpose of this paper is to describe the images of multilinear polynomials of arbitrary degree on the strictly upper triangular matrix algebra.

Nonlinear Lie derivations of triangular algebras
AbstractIn this paper we prove that every nonlinear Lie derivation of triangular algebras is the sum of an additive derivation and a map into its center sending commutators to zero.

Data assimilation errors due to incomplete accounting of balanced versus unbalanced moisture
We investigate data assimilation strategies with moisture and assess the impact of accounting for moisture's balanced and unbalanced components. To illustrate the main ideas, examples are presented using a simple model consisting of linear, moist, shallow‐water equations with stochastic forcing.

Accelerating eigenvector and pseudospectra computation using blocked multi-shift triangular solves [PDF]
Multi-shift triangular solves are basic linear algebra calculations with applications in eigenvector and pseudospectra computation. We propose blocked algorithms that efficiently exploit Level 3 BLAS to perform multi-shift triangular solves and safe multi-shift triangular solves.

Unbiased calculation, evaluation, and calibration of ensemble forecast anomalies
Standard methods for calculating ensemble forecast anomalies result in statistical inconsistencies between forecast and verification anomalies, even if the underlying forecasts are perfectly reliable. An unbiased evaluation of anomaly‐based ensemble forecasts must account for differences in climatological sampling uncertainty between forecasts and ...

Hopf Galois extensions, triangular structures, and Frobenius Lie algebras in prime characteristic [PDF]
We investigate the transformed Hopf algebras in Hopf Galois extensions. The final goal of this paper is to introduce certain triangular Hopf algebras associated with restricted Frobenius Lie algebras over a field of characteristic $p>0$.
