The Role of Dice in the Emergence of the Probability Calculus

The Natural Components of a Regular Linear System

ABSTRACT When applying the cointegrated autoregressive distributed lag model it is common to include indicator variables for outliers. This is often done in a somewhat ad hoc way. Least Trimmed Squares estimation provides a more systematic approach. This estimator is robust to a large number of outliers of many types.

Here we provide a new characterization of a substantially different nature involving directed graphs of subspaces.

The number of regular simplices in higher dimensions

Abstract We study the extremal function Sdk(n)$S^k_d(n)$, defined as the maximum number of regular (k−1)$(k-1)$‐simplices spanned by n$n$ points in Rd$\mathbb {R}^d$. For any fixed d⩾2k⩾6$d\geqslant 2k\geqslant 6$, we determine the asymptotic behavior of Sdk(n)$S^k_d(n)$ up to a lower‐order term.
