Brindley's gland exocrine products of Triatoma infestans

Medical and Veterinary Entomology, 1995
Abstract olatile exocrine products of the metathoracic Brindley's glands in Triatoma infestans (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) were obtained by dissection and by sampling the air passed over agitated live adults.

Female specific proteins in Triatoma infestans haemolymph

Journal of Insect Physiology, 1973
Abstract The presence of female specific proteins in triatoma infestans haemolymph, as well as the relationship between the female specific proteins and egg proteins, were analysed. At the same time, the presence of specific female proteins in different instars was studied.

TRIATOMA INFESTANS CHOOSES TO FEED UPON IMMUNE PREY

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2006
Blood-feeding Triatoma infestans obtained its fills from immune chickens in 15 min, but it needed 40 min for feeding upon non-immune chickens. High-titer specific IgGs and skin reactivity against T. infestans saliva antigens were elicited in immune chickens.

Competitive displacement in Triatominae: the Triatoma infestans success

Trends in Parasitology, 2006
Brazil has just been certificated by Pan American Health Organization as 'free of Chagas disease transmission due to Triatoma infestans'. During the early 1980s, this species of blood-sucking bug alone was considered responsible for approximately 80% of Chagas disease transmission. But it was not always so.

Enzyme Polymorphism Among Triatoma infestans (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) Colonies

Journal of Medical Entomology, 1995
Allozyme variability in populations of the Chagas's disease vector Triatoma infestans (Klug) was investigated by means of starch gel electrophoresis. Samples were taken from nine laboratory colonies established with individuals collected at different localities across the range of this insect in South America. Zymograms for proteins coded by a total of

The occurrence of arachidonic acid in Triatoma infestans

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1987
1. Gas-liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry were used to verify the presence of arachidonic acid (20:4 omega 6) in adult male and female organs of the blood-suckling bug Triatoma infestans. Fat body, gonad and head lipids were analyzed. 2. Male gonads contained the highest percentage of phospholipids and the highest percentage of arachidonic ...
