Control of Triatoma Infestans (Klug) with Malathion1 Concentrate2

Journal of Medical Entomology, 1975
In laboratory and large-scale field tests in Argentina undiluted Malathion® ULV Concentrate Insecticide, Premium Grade (deodorized) applied in and around brick or adobe houses at 2.5 cc/m2 with a specially adapted motorized knapsack sprayer had an effective and rapid insecticidal action against Triatoma infestans , the primary vector of Chagas' disease

Field experiments of dispersive flight by Triatoma infestans

Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1981
Using marked male Triatoma infestans allowed to escape and fly on a little-used airport in Brazil and salt flats in Argentina, 33 of 169 flew in the former and 28 of 528 in the latter experiment. Many of the bugs which flew had been classed as poorly fed. The proportion of bugs which flew was in reasonable agreement with predictions based on laboratory

Hydrocarbon biosynthesis in Triatoma infestans eggs

Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 1994
AbstractTriatoma infestans eggs are shown to synthesize hydrocarbons. Radio‐gas chromatography was used to demonstrate metabolism of [1‐14C]propionate into precursor methyl‐branched fatty acids and into methyl‐branched hydrocarbons in T. infestans eggs. These reactions have not been demonstrated previously in insect eggs.

Isolation and characterization of the haemolymph lipoproteins of Triatoma infestans

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1982
1. Three lipoproteins differing in hydrated densities were isolated by ultracentrifugal procedures from the haemolymph of adult and fasted Triatoma infestans. 2. They are the high density lipoprotein HDL (d = 1.115-1.152) and the two very high density lipoproteins VHDL-I (d = 1.190-1.231) and VHDL-II (d = 1.245-1.260).

A Microsatellite-Based Analysis of House Infestation With Triatoma Infestans (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) After Insecticide Spraying in the Argentine Chaco.

Journal of medical entomology, 2018
Prevention of vector-borne transmission of Chagas disease mainly relies on residual insecticide spraying. Despite significant success at a regional scale, house infestation with Triatoma infestans (Klug) (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) still persists in the Gran

Effects of Melia azedarach on Triatoma infestans

Fitoterapia, 1999
Extracts from fruits and leaves of Melia azedarach were tested for repellent and insecticidal properties against eggs and nymphs of Triatoma infestans, the vector of Chagas disease. Unripe fruit extract was highly repellent for first and fourth instar nymphs. Ripe fruit had a weaker effect while leaves were ineffective.

THE INDUCTION OF NAD KINASE BY DDT IN TRIATOMA INFESTANS

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1967
The NAD kinase (EC 2.7.1.23) from Triatoma infestans has been purified and a specific antiserum against it prepared. Immunochemical techniques have shown that the increase in the levels of NAD kinase in nymphs of T. infestans is accompanied by an increase in the amount of enzyme protein.

Nutritional status of domestic populations of Triatoma infestans

Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1980
Abstract This paper establishes that the weight: length ratio of Triatoma infestans is superior to weight alone as a measure of nutritional status. The weight: length ratios of adults, V and IV stage nymphs correlated with their time since feeding.

Female specific proteins in Triatoma infestans haemolymph

Journal of Insect Physiology, 1973
Abstract The presence of female specific proteins in triatoma infestans haemolymph, as well as the relationship between the female specific proteins and egg proteins, were analysed. At the same time, the presence of specific female proteins in different instars was studied.
