Factors associated with the presence of triatomines in rural areas of south Argentine Chaco.

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical, 2019
INTRODUCTION The domestic and peridomestic presence of Triatoma infestans depends on several factors, such as human behavior, vector behavior, ecology, and the environment.

In Vitro Leishmanicidal Efficacy of Synthesized Arylidene Analogues of Glitazone

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 86, Issue 5, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Diabetes is a fast‐growing health issue in low‐ and middle‐income countries, with ~80% of diabetics living in the tropics and sub‐tropics. It is a deadly condition claiming the lives of millions of individuals annually, with no therapeutic treatment available to date. The management of diabetes is thus limited to symptomatic relief by glycemic

Spermatogenesis and nucleolar activity in Triatoma klugi (triatomine, Heteroptera) [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2008
Triatoma klugi is a Chagas disease vector in the Rio Grande do Sul State. Triatominae chromosomes are holocentric and sex chromosomes segregation is post-reductional. In this paper we describe the karyotype of male T. klugi and a meiotic analysis including the nucleolar behavior during spermatogenesis.

Possible absence of attraction to odor in Panstrongylus megistus (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) under laboratory conditions

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1994
We tested the attraction of Panstrongylus megistus odor under laboratory conditons, between males and females of this species and by individuals of each sex on recently fed virgin couples.

The salivary gland transcriptome of Varroa destructor reveals suitable targets for RNAi‐based mite control

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 34, Issue 4, Page 540-551, August 2025.
RNAseq and differential expression analysis identified 15 salivary gland genes encoding secreted proteins with putative anti‐bacterial, anti‐fungal, cytolytic, digestive and immunosuppressive function. The three most highly transcribed genes were selected to study their functional importance by reverse genetics, using a non‐invasive approach of dsRNA ...

Aspects of peridomiciliary ecotopes in rural areas of Northeastern Brazil associated to triatomine (Hemiptera, Reduviidae) infestation, vectors of Chagas disease

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2006
Artificial ecotopes of 121 peridomiciliary environments in four rural localities in the state of Ceará, Brazil, were studied and the type of material of the ecotopes was identified as triatomine infestation.

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 2018
This note reports on occurrences of triatomine species in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, registered between 1988 and 2017. Records of triatomines captured in Sao Paulo are based on specimens received spontaneously from Health Surveillance Centers, Health

Chagas disease screening of maternal donors in publicly banked umbilical cord blood in North Carolina, United States 2007–2023

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 1, Issue 4, July 2025.
Abstract Introduction Over 300,000 people living in the United States are estimated to have Chagas disease, a condition for which mother to child transmission may occur and early diagnosis is essential to reduce Chagas‐related morbidity and mortality. This study evaluated positive Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi) screening serology among maternal donors of
