Triaxial Testing of Frozen Sand [PDF]
AbstractTriaxial testing of frozen saturated Ottawa sand under confined compression was carried out under hydrostatic pressures varying between 0.1 and 75 MPa at a temperature of -10°C and strain-rate 7.7×10-5s-1. Yield and failure stresses increased with increasing hydrostatic pressures up to about 40 MPa, beyond which the stresses dropped.

The meaning of effective soil parameters for determining of the bearing capacity of cohesive soils
The paper presents the analysis of the bearing capacity of cohesive soils, which was calculated based on the PN-EN-1997-1 methodology. This computations take into account the effect of pore water pressure on the soil strength parameters.

On-sample water content measurement for a complete local monitoring in triaxial testing of unsaturated soils [PDF]
To provide a complete local monitoring of the state of an unsaturated soil sample during triaxial testing, a local water content measurement device was adapted to a triaxial device comprising the measurement of local displacements (Hall effect ...

Mechanical Behavior of Triaxial Geogrid Used for Reinforced Soil Structures
Geosynthetics-reinforced soil (GRS) structures have been widely used for the prevention of geological hazards. As a recently introduced product, the triaxial geogrid has been confirmed to provide improved performance due to the more stable grid structure.

Experimental methodology of study of damage initiation and development in textile composites in uniaxial tensile test [PDF]
Damage in textile composites is closely connected with the internal micro- and meso-geometry of the reinforcement, and reveals features, which are not present in the damage processes in classical laminates. This paper proposes a test sequence intended to

Failure criterion for soft rocks considering intermediate principal stress
The significant differences between hard rocks (more brittle) and soft rocks (more ductile) may suggest the use of different failure criteria. A strength criterion for soft rocks that includes intermediate principal stress was proposed. The new criterion
